3 Days Celebrating Love And Relationships In February 2019

February is a unique month not just because it’s the shortest month of the year and Valentine’s Day falls in it, but there are 3 consecutive special days dedicated to people’s lives. There are 3 days celebrating love and relationships in February 2019.

Galentine’s Day, Valentine’s Day and Singles Awareness Day

We all know Valentine’s day which falls on February 14th but the day before and day after are special days too. February 13th is Galentine’s Day and February 15th is Singles Awareness Day. But where did this all come from and how did it begin ?

1. Let’s start with Galentine’s Day. It’s a day that people celebrate women’s friendship. Sounds like a good thing but it is seen somewhat unfavorable in the U.K. Believe it or not, it started as a fictional story in a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation with Leslie Knope’s lady friends. It seemed like a great concept of celebrating lady friends on a day of their own and it took off from there.

2. Then there is Singles Awareness Day which is celebrated the day after Valentine’s Day. This almost makes sense as Galentine’s day celebrates friendship, Valentine’s Day celebrates couples and this day celebrates singles.

Singles Awareness Day was thought by many to be a day of pity after Valentine’s Day for the stigma of being single but that is not true. It is a day to celebrate being single. It’s a day to enjoy yourself, maybe send yourself flowers.

There is also another day celebrating singles, National Singles Day, which is celebrated on September 15th.

3. Then last, but not least there is Valentine’s Day which originated from St. Valentine. I need not go through that whole history but talk more about how people celebrate it.

A recent blog post on New York City Matchmaker Hunting Maven’s website, describes it from a single’s perspective. The author Julia Bekker, who herself is single, has an interesting view that its not all bad being single on Valentine’s day.

I am on the couple’s end of this as I’m in a relationship that began from a dating app. We had a great romantic dinner at a fondue place getting to eat cheese that is only made twice a year, on New Year’s Day and Valentine’s Day.

The good news here is regardless of your relationship status there is a day or maybe even two for you.

When we think about the 3 days celebrating love and relationships in February 2019 there’s definitely one for everyone and we can find something good in all of them regardless of our relationship status.

And remember according to our own Dating Addict the busy season for love is after Valentine’s Day.
