Why Are Interracial and Interethnic Relationships On The Rise In 2018 ?

I have noticed lately, more and more interracial couples then I had previously remembered. To me this all seems normal, having been born and raised in the northeast, where several of my close friends were different races. Even more specifically, interethnic. As it turns out it is true that intermarriages are in fact increasing. So why are interracial and interethnic relationships on the rise in 2018 ?

The reality is its not because of some big shift in thinking or culture, its just plain numbers. We are more diversified as a county with a larger population mostly of Hispanics followed by Asians. But after talking to a number of couples, in an unscientific way, I can see some other reasons why this is happening. The answer may be as simple as watching a couple of episodes of 90 Day Fiance on TLC.

Let’s face it, as a society in America there seems to a departure from a lot of the old fashion traditional values that our parents and their parents once held so close. This coupled with an overall acceptance of mixed marriages and relationship, including gays.

Getting back to the numbers, they speak for themselves but are not spread equally across all states. Hawaii is the leader, of what Pew calls intermarriages, at 42% with Mississippi at 3%. Florida comes in at 29%, with that majority being Hispanic.

As far as the Black population, it has seen the most steady growth. In 1980 only 4% were in interracial marriages, today that number is almost 19%

When you drill down a little further on these number they make even more sense. That is just shear availability of partners. There are lots more Hispanic and Asian singles out there and most share the traditional family values, therefore are seeking relationships.

Hey who hasn’t seen a hot Latin man or woman or been attracted to a petite Asian woman. Many are American citizens or dreamers (DACA) so aside from our origins we are the same.

So asking again, why are interracial and interethnic relationships on the rise in 2018 ? Maybe a little more on the unscientific comments from couples that we encountered. We found the following common things:

• Caucasian women find Latin men very charming and exciting 
• Latin women find Caucasian men cute and strong 

• Caucasian men find Latin women hot and passionate 

• All find each other respecting and embrace traditional family values 

• Asians are attracted to well-educated partners and vice versa 

While we hear so much on the news of our country being so divided, these numbers show that this may all be changing as love and relationships can solve all.
