Recently I posted an article about how to improve your success rate when communicating with someone online. Below is an actual conversation to find out if someone is serious or not. This is a way to very quickly shake out a pen pal or someone who may be hiding something. This is an actual conversation I had just a couple of hours ago on an online dating site to see if they are serious.

I’ll tell you what jumps out below and how it is a good way to find out if someone is serious.

Do you want to text till we can talk ? I am not a big fan of messaging . Wanting to talk on the phone helps to weed out pen pals and people who are not serious about actually getting to know someone

There are a couple of red flags right away. First, the name “Precious”, really ? probably not real. Second the question about how long I have been on the site without any context like “I have had a bad experience” or “This site sucks”. It is clearly checking to see if I am new.

Once I asked for the phone number she was gone.

As mentioned in my previous post, if you want to see if someone is real, go for the phone number. A serious person will want to talk. A fake or pen pal will just ghost you as what happened here.

So here is an actual conversation I just had to find out if someone is serious.
